What Is Lightweight Insulated Concrete?
Lightweight insulated concrete (LWIC) is a poured roof deck that does three jobs in one pour: it builds positive slope toward the drains, it insulates the building, and it gives the waterproofing membrane a sound, monolithic substrate to bond to.
Instead of stacking rigid foam board and tapering it by hand, crews pump a slurry of Portland cement blended with lightweight aggregate - often with a layer of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation board cast inside the slab. The result is far lighter than structural concrete, yet rigid, fire-resistant and dimensionally stable in Florida heat. It is most often poured over a steel deck or a structural concrete slab on commercial, condo and institutional roofs.

Pour & place insulation
The lightweight slurry is pumped and screeded to grade with EPS insulation board cast in - a single, monolithic insulating deck.
Cure, then roof
